German Cockroaches in Phoenix, AZ

Blattella germanica

German cockroaches are the most common indoor roach species and the fastest to multiply. Here's how Antidote Pest Solutions eliminates them.

Notes: From a Phoenix, AZ Exterminator

Appearance

German cockroaches are light tan to brown, about half an inch long, with two dark parallel stripes running down behind the head. They rarely fly and are the smallest common indoor roach species.

Harborage

They thrive indoors near warmth, moisture, and food — kitchens and bathrooms especially, hiding behind appliances, under sinks, and inside cabinet voids. A single female can be responsible for tens of thousands of descendants in a year.

Are They Dangerous?

Yes. German cockroaches spread bacteria including salmonella and E. coli, contaminate food surfaces, and their shed skins and droppings are a well-documented asthma and allergy trigger, especially in children.

Treatment

This is the most difficult roach species to eliminate with store-bought products because of how fast populations rebound. Antidote Pest Solutions uses removal, gel baiting, growth-regulator treatments proven to break the reproduction cycle. Talk to one of Antidote Pest's Service Pro's now.

Prevention Tips

Keep kitchens and bathrooms free of food debris and grease buildup

Store food, including pet food, in sealed containers

Fix leaky faucets and pipes to eliminate water sources

Take out trash regularly and use bins with tight-fitting lids

Inspect secondhand appliances and furniture before bringing them inside

Seal cracks around cabinets, baseboards, and plumbing penetrations

Behavioral Notes

A single German cockroach egg case (ootheca) can hold 30-40 eggs, and unlike most roach species, the female carries it until just before the eggs hatch — one reason populations explode so quickly.

German cockroaches have developed glucose aversion in many populations, avoiding traditional sugar-based baits entirely, which is why bait formulation matters for effective control.

Teri T.

“I had ants in my home and couldn't figure out where they were coming from. I tried store bought poisons and traps and nothing worked. These guys came in and within one day, not a single ant to be found. It's been several weeks now. So thrilled to have found them when I did, especially since the weather is changing and stirring up all kinds of creepy crawlies. Thank you!!"
